- The participants will be in pairs as directed by the leader.
- The purpose is to pray a blessing on each other.
- Paul said to the Corinthians, “He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself. I would like every one of you to pray in tongues. If I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays. I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my mind.” (1Corinthians 14:4,5,14,15)
- Those who pray in tongues are encouraged to quietly pray in tongues first.
- Then pray in tongues for your partner, taking it in turns.
- With permission, you may like to lay hands on your partner as you pray.
- It is not intended that you interpret what you pray. You are allowing the Spirit of God to speak directly to the person for whom you are praying.
- If the one being prayed for feels the desire to respond to the Lord in tongues they should do so.
- If your partner has never prayed in tongues and is willing for you to pray that they will receive this gift of the Holy Spirit, pray for this.
- If you have not prayed in tongues before, wait quietly for a few minutes to allow the Holy Spirit to fill your mind and heart.
- Then pray God’s blessing for your partner as the Holy Spirit prompts you. You might like to try it in tongues.
- You may like to record what happened for you.
